Women journalism

Journalism is an interesting and brave profession. In Nepal around 25 women journalists from the Terai area joined to get trained on individual security, human rights, basic journalism skills, conflict and gender-sensitive journalism.

The training program is organized by UNESCO and the Nepal Press Institute look forward with the aim to help women reporters guard themselves and determination diminish the amount of violent behavior not in favor of them.

The training period will be for four months and it mainly focus on:
Personal security, Human rights fundamentals, basic journalism skills, Conflict, and gender-sensitive journalism.

The main purpose for the training program is that the Female journalists working in some areas of the Terai region repeatedly face risk for the reason that of their profession.

A growing number of women journalists declare in attendance are on the increase pressure from their families to get a hold out of the profession for the reason of such danger. There is substantiation that the number of attacks is escalating and the violent behavior is occurring in more areas of Nepal.

At the end of the training program, the newly shaped cluster of women reporters will be obtainable internships within different media houses in the country.

Women of India's Freedom Struggle

In India freedom struggle divergent to ordinary trust, the women in India enclose and shown immense courage, control, and courage in times of freedom struggle time.
For Gandhi’s Non-violence movement many were women joined and works hard for the freedom. The most general and uneducated women sacrificed there time and materials and donating to the causes of freedom.

Vijayalakshmi Pandit

He was Sister of Jawaharlal Nehru, and became a leader of the Congress Party of India. He was the first women appointed in the Indian ministry history. She was arrested in 1932 and sentenced to a year's painstaking locking up. She was arrested in 1940 again at some stage in the Quit India Movement. She was the first woman to turn out to be president of the United Nations General Assembly.

Amrit Kaur

He was born in a Royal family of Kapurtala. Her father was Raja Harnam Singh. She finished her education in London and returned back India at the age of 20. Suddenly she took part in Salt Satyagraha and Quit India Movement. She was the first woman to hold a post in the cabinet as Minister in 1947 till her death she remained in rajya shaba. At that time she handled Minister of Health and she setting up All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.

Anjali Ammal

Ammal was a born ina small poor weaver family and joined in Satyagraha struggle for the freedom of India during that she arrested and sent to prison. She was a social worker and later she served in madras assembly.

Indira Gandhi

Indira Priyadarshini Nehru more popularly known as Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru and Kamala Nehru in and she groomed to be a leader of India in her early days. In her family most persons had served significant roles in the freedom struggle.

Kasturba Gndhi

She was the wife of Gandhi and she called Ba. For Women's Satyagraha she was a leader and imprisoned. She helped in many situations to her husband and arrested twice for kadhi.

Women Force

History tells that Harriet Quimby was the fist women licensed pilot in US 1911, but history forget to tell about Katherine Wright who was the sister of Wright brothers. She had as much to do with the first flight at Kitty Hawk as did her brothers but not in the U.S. military.



At the time of WWI Princess Eugenie Shakhovskaya and Princess Sophie Alexandrovna Dolgorunaya were become the first women military pilot in Europe.

Jacqueline Cochran in 1953 broken the sound barrier and set the record for the use of women pilots in military. Until 70s the military resist to take women pilots.

In 1974 Navy have the first women naval aviators and later in the same year army came forward to trained women helicopter pilots. In 1976 Air force plan to fixed the women to the pilot training program, but the women pilots were not worked in the war field that time. Not until 1993 were women allowed flying combat aircraft.

The first women pilot flew in 1911 but it took 65 years to recognize and another 17 year to permit in war aircraft. Afterwards every thing turn to good and in 1997 a dedication of women’s memorial is presented. A female Air Force Colonel Eileen Collins was the first woman to authority a space shuttle mission in 1999. Air Force B-52's and Navy Tomcats is being flying by women.

Major Marie T. Rossi give her life to while flying in the war area at the age of 32 on march 1991 she was the first female combat commander to fly in war zone.

In 90s Lt Col. Martha Mc Sally was the first American women who fly in the war and she was the top female air for pilot.

In the 2004 Air Force 19.6 % of the force was female.

Women first began toward the inside of pilot training in 1976, fighter pilot training in July 1993 and navigator training in 1977. Currently - 2005-06 - there are 568 female pilots and 210 female navigators.

In 2006 thunderbird team includes first female pilot and in England female demonstrator pilot on any us military jet.

Women’s commission


In ancient India, women enjoyed equal and respectable status in the world as men. Modern India has also seen many enormous women leaders like Smt. Sarojini Naidu, Smt. Vijaylakshmi Pandit, Smt.Capt.Laxmi, Smt. Indira Gandhi, etc. In spite of this, it has been seen that a greater part of Indian women are still wounded of annoyance and spite both in their homes as well as at their workplaces.



The imbalanced status meted out to Indian women in approximately every potential sphere of life has encouraged several women activist and intended organization have large integer of member for the period of 1980s to make relentless difficulty for surroundings up a Commission for the specific purpose of facilitate the redressal of grievances of women. A step forward of a country is deficient when inequity persists with suggestion to partially of its population. Having realized the significance of the matter because of the women’s organization outer surface and women assembly members inside the assembly, the Government of India strong-willed to set up a Commission for women, to be called the National Commission for Women. A Bill matching to National Commission for Women was draft out in the State of Kerala as the Kerala Women's Commission Bill,1990 and sent for the approval of the President of India in 1990. The draft Bill was frame under the supervision of the then Minister for Social Welfare Smt. K. R. Gouri Amma with officially authorized aid from Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer and Justice Subramanian Potti and suggestion of woman’s organizations. But regrettably the bill was waiting for five years from 1990 to 1995 to get the assent of the President.

The Kerala Women's Commission Act was lastly passed with the consent of the President on 15-9-1995. The primary Commission, formed during the residence of Shri. A. K. Antony as Chief Minister came into force on 14-3-1996. The Commission was headed by Smt. Sugatha Kumari, the well-known poetess and social worker. The Commission also constitute of 3 other Members and 2 ex-officio members who are renowned dignitaries of the society. In 1997 the newly constituted commission was reconstituted as per the act and in progress function after the inaugural ceremony by Smt.Suseela Gopalan, ex- Minister of Social Welfare.
